Like Father, Like Son

I've been trying hard every day to pack a few boxes as to make the whole packing experience a little less stressful than it usually is. On some days, Michael is very cooperative and either entertains himself with various toys or plays in a box like shown in last week's Wordless Wednesday. This afternoon, Michael was playing at my feet as I boxed a few things in our bedroom and I looked down and he was gone. Immediately I could hear him fiddling with something behind our glider chair. He had found Jonathan's basketball...

So we pulled it out from behind the chair and Michael had a ball! (haha...a ball...I crack myself up!)

Anyway, of course I took the opportunity to take a few pictures:

Who knows? Maybe he'll be into Basketball like his daddy :)

Butterick Lies...

For those of you reading that aren't members of the Ridge family and are unaware...my sister-in-law, Kendra is getting married this coming Tuesday. A bridal shower was thrown for her on Saturday. At first I planned on getting her some fun lingerie, but then changed my mind and decided to make her an apron because I've always wanted an apron and still don't have one. One day while out running errands, Michael and I went over to Jo-Ann Fabrics to search for the perfect pattern--an easy pattern. I went through several catalogs and found the cutest apron in the Butterick book. Luckily it was in the "See and Sew" section which is supposed to be the super easy patterns. I picked out some cute fabric and then set out to sew this EASY apron. Liars. The people who make these Butterick patterns clearly do not understand the definition of easy. I pulled the pattern out and started to read the directions and I didn't know what in the world they were talking about! Granted I haven't sewn in quite some time and my skills are rather rusty...but I figured it's like riding a bike, right? Anyway, I immediately called my grandma and she came to my rescue. We went to visit her several days later and I felt much better when she started reading the instructions and confirmed that it was indeed rather complicated. She walked me through the instructions and I managed to do the actual sewing all by myself :). I must say that while parts were tedious it did turn out rather cute. See for yourself:

Bryant (Kendra's fiance) wanted a turn to model too...

...it was a bit short on him. ;)

Hopefully someday in the near future I'll get around to making myself an apron too.

Anyway, on to Michael. He was a bit overwhelmed by all the people at the Bridal Shower, but he soon was certain that the party was for him. Kendra sat in the center of the room as she opened her presents and Michael made sure to sit next to her to help. He didn't really care so much for opening the presents--he really just wanted to play with all of the tissue paper.

You gotta love that crooked goofy grin of his. :)

You'd think it was December...

Yesterday it rained (poured is more like it) the entire day. Michael and I were out running errands for a few hours and both of us got rather soaked just going to and from the car and different stores. After being home for about 45 minutes it was time to pick Jonathan up from work and when I opened the door I saw that the rain had turned into snow...and not just a little fluff like what we showed in the last Wordless Wednesday--It was a blizzard outside! It continued through the night and this is what we saw in the morning...

Michael hasn't really had the opportunity to play in the snow this past winter so we thought we'd bundle him up and see how he liked it. At first we decided to go to the park, but then we realized that we would have to get dressed and bundled for that too...We figured Michael would only want to touch and play with the cold white stuff for a few minutes so we settled on just letting him play on the car.

**Don't worry...Jonathan is standing just out of the picture ;)

I know you can't tell in the picture, but Michael has 2 more teeth coming in. His right "lateral incisor" (I looked up the name to sound smart)has come through the gum and his other front tooth (or central incisor) has started to peek through as well. Thankfully he is still not the devil child I was and hasn't bitten me while nursing.
